My Story

From Dependent to Operator

I graduated from Rowan University in 2009 with a degree in finance. I'd planned on hedge funds or financial advisory work. Then the housing crisis hit, and jobs disappeared. My cousin owned Acre Mortgage and offered me a choice: he could help me interview around, or he could hire me to do mortgages. I chose mortgages. That was accident number one. Best decision I never planned to make.

For the first few years, I was dependent on my database and referrals from real estate agents. It worked, but I hated it. I wasn't in control. If the agents stopped sending deals, my pipeline dried up. I realized I needed to get good at marketing — not just good at closing loans.

So I went down the rabbit hole. I learned direct response marketing, studied Russell Brunson, Sabri Suby, and other operators who actually built businesses. I realized that most loan officers don't fail because they're bad at mortgages — they fail because they don't have systems. No marketing systems. No follow up. No way to generate their own leads.

"I'm really the most hardworking, lazy person you'll ever meet. By no means am I lazy — but I don't want to keep doing the same thing over and over again."

I started building. First with Salesforce, then Lead Pops, then a bunch of other tools duct taped together. Then I found HighLevel. Everything clicked. I built my funnels, my workflows, my automations — everything I needed to run my mortgage business on systems instead of hustle. My business partner and I saw what we'd built and realized other mortgage professionals needed this too. That became Cerberus CRM.

Outside of work, I'm a dad and I love snowboarding. I'm obsessed with learning — whether that's mastering new marketing tactics or understanding how AI is reshaping industries. And I genuinely believe the best business solutions come from solving real problems for real people, not from chasing trends. That's the through-line of everything I do.
